The mother, KGP12, was born in India in 2024 and delivered the litter on September 18, 2026. The birth marks the second generation of locally born cheetahs and takes India’s total cheetah population to 52, including 32 cheetahs born in the country.
Union Minister Bhupender Yadav welcomed the development and highlighted the symbolic timing of four years and four cubs. He described the development as a sign of hope for conservation efforts that began in 2022 under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Officials said the birth indicates that cheetahs are adapting well in India. At present, 17 cheetahs are roaming freely in Kuno National Park, while the remaining cheetahs are preparing in enclosures.
The birth of KGP12’s four cubs adds another locally born generation to India’s growing cheetah population and marks another development in the conservation efforts that began in 2022.
